Exclusively for this event Femme & Angelique have created a (work)book on how to start your sustainability journey.
About Femme van Gils & Angelique Janssen
"We are Femme & Angelique, and we actually met through Palaver! Both sustainability enthusiasts and based in Amsterdam, we love to share our insights and tips with our friends, and most importantly in an accessible way. That’s how 'Our Workbook' came to life."
Femme is a communicator at heart, and avid lover of anything to do with water or big open spaces. With a background in fashion and branding, she’s driven by what moves people, cultures and brands, and has a great interest in consumer behaviour. While briefly living abroad in Australia, her life slowed down in ways she finds hard to express.
“I’d best describe it as feeling a connection to something ‘bigger’. Our earth. Bit of a cliche I guess. But, the current fashion system is the opposite of slow and definitely not set on taking care of our earth and I was over it.”
Femme currently works as the Sustainability Manager at Ace & Tate in Amsterdam.
“A systemic change is needed to turn things around for our planet and I love creating solutions which can scale positive impact. Transparently sharing this information will hopefully only increase this positive impact and inspire others to have the same mindful conscience about our earth and connectivity.”
Angelique is a peaceful, quirky and kind voice on Instagram, and has built a small community where she shares and gives a glimpse into the different ways she implements sustainability into her daily life. During her studies she followed a minor in Copywriting, during which she wrote a longread article on the industry behind fast fashion.
“During my research, what struck me the most was the enormous impact this industry has on our environment, and the people working and living in these direct environments. I couldn’t walk into these stores anymore, now knowing what really goes on behind the scenes. After this I started questioning other aspects of my daily life and started learning more about the different tiny but impactful ways to change my day-to-day actions. ”
She started sharing this information with her friends, and eventually also on Instagram.
“I really see my Instagram account as one big community of friends, where we all chat and share our different insights on this topic. I want to make this information accessible to everyone, explain it in a way that’s easy to grasp, and to show you the multiple ways that you can start in your own way.”
During the workshop we will take you through and introduce you to; our sustainability workbook. This guide has been put together with lots of love & care, and forms a collection of inspiration and space, to center your life around living more consciously and sustainably.
Working with this book will hopefully inspire and grow your awareness around this topic. We very well realise that this is a never-ending learning process and this book is a reflection/ collection of what we’ve learnt so far. The workbook is meant as a tool, thus it will also contain exercises, space for notes and spaces for you to answer some prompts/questions useful for daily life. We encourage you to make it your own, and to implement it in ways that fit your current day-to-days.
During the workshop we will share our own experiences and explain how this all fell into place. We’ll then walk you through the workbook and its different chapters. Hopefully this helps you find your own groove within the space of sustainability.
